Ioannis Kardaras was born in Piraeus. He graduated from the “Law School of Athens” (1974), with postgraduate studies at the University of London specializing in "European Union Law" “Anti-trust law in the European Union” and "Comparative European Law" (1976). Has been working in Piraeus since 1977 as a lawyer at the Supreme Court of Greece (Areios Pagos).
Since 2002 he has been elected Municipal Councilor of Piraeus for 12 years. He had previously served for 6 years as a member of the Board of the "Piraeus Bar Association". In 2014 he was re-elected as a member of the Board, which he holds until today, while he is in charge of the Piraeus Bar Association’s Committee for Human Social and Political Rights. He is also member of the editorial Committee of the Legal Journal "PIRAEUS CASE LAW" published by Piraeus Bar Association.
